A LETTER FROM A FORMER ATSO PRESIDENT

Dear Current and Future Students,

This association is for you.  Let me explain.

Every person that is involved in the Lance and Shield Association has probably been through some version of what you’re going through.  Our hope is to make it a little bit easier.  Stressing out because you have your first OPE?  Been there.  Not sure if your preceptor detests you or just wants to challenge you?  Yeah, that can be rough. Probably depends on the day.  Want to go to CATA but can’t afford registration?  We may be able to help with that.  You dream about working professional basketball but want your lead with a secondary school preceptor for football, and aren’t sure if that’s going to get you where you want to go?  Life choices are hard.  Your roommate is your best friend and your squad is getting you through some pretty rough Denny’s all-nighters?  Don’t know how I'd survive without them now.  Yes, the struggle is real.  And we’ve lived it.  So that’s why we want to help.

The LSA was founded with the intention of giving back.  Giving back to its members, to the program, and specifically, to you.  We want to make these two years just a little bit easier.  Our mission is to provide you a network to help you navigate the graduate school waters.  We also hope to provide some funds and excitement along the way.  We want to boast about your accomplishments and help with your “what now” questions. We’ll even be here to wish you good luck on the BOC and celebrate your first job.  We want you to stay connected to this family you’ve invested in.  So, take a break from your outcomes paper, check out the website and some of the things we have for you, then tell us what you think.  We can’t wait to hear from you!

Keep pushing through, we’re here for you.

Cheers!
